MEDICAL COMPRESSION IS THE FOUNDATION

Compression Therapy

Compression Therapy is a method that is relatively simple in concept, yet fundamental in the prevention and treatment of venous disease and its complications. Symptomatic compression therapy is also applied in cases of other types of edema, such as lymphedema and lipedema.

INTRODUCTION

The operating principle of compression garments is quite simple, yet highly effective. Compression stockings feature a specialized design that generates graduated compression - the pressure is strongest at the ankle and gradually decreases toward the thigh. As a result, compression products reduce leg edemasupport proper venous blood outflow (moving upwards against gravity), and help prevent venous reflux.

Graduated compression is the key to the effectiveness of compression garments. A properly fitted compression product is the foundation for both the prevention of varicose veins,and the treatment of venous insufficiency.

INDICATIONS FOR COMPRESSION THERAPY

A phlebological consultation is a key element of diagnostics and the subsequent causal treatment of venous diseases. During the visit, we routinely perform:

  • prevention of venous disorders (for individuals with prolonged standing or sitting occupations and during long-distance travel);
  • edema in lower limb venous insufficiency;
  • advanced stages of chronic venous disease (CEAP stages C4-C6);
  • pregnancy-related edema;
  • post-procedural care following venous interventions;
  • prevention of venous thrombosis following trauma or immobilization (e.g., after fractures
    orthopedic, neurosurgical, or gynecological surgeries);
  • venous thrombosis (acute and subacute phases);
  • prevention of post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS);
  • lymphedema;
  • lipedema.
